Assisting our community

Nyrstar understands that a little support can go a long way.

Community Grants

Could a community grant from Nyrstar help you make our community a better place? Whether it’s a project, event, initiative or something else and it supports sustainable community development, we want to hear from you.  Grants of up to $3,000 are available once a year. The next round of grants opens in mid-2018 and will be advertised in The Mercury newspaper. If you would like to register to receive notification of the next grants round, please click here.

Moonah Taste of the World The Moonah Taste of the World Festival is a celebration through food and musical performances and children’s activities of the rich cultural diversity of Glenorchy City and southern Tasmania.  Staged in the vibrant suburb of Moonah, a busy hub of diverse eateries and food suppliers, the event features a mouth-watering selection of dishes and treats from around the globe at very reasonable prices. Nyrstar Hobart is a proud, longstanding supporter of the Festival, which will celebrate its ninth edition in 2019.

Nyrstar has partnered with Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary to create the first Seabird Rehabilitation facility in Tasmania.  The enclosure features specialised infrastructure including a pool, allowing the Sanctuary to care for sick and injured seabirds.  Nyrstar has a very strong focus on proactive environmental solutions, which have seen significant improvements to protecting the Derwent Estuary and the sealife it houses.  Nyrstar is proud to support Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary in its endeavors to protect Tasmania’s precious seabirds.
