Vacation Employment Program

Nyrstar Hobart offers paid work during university holidays.

Give your career a flying start with real live paid work experience over the Christmas break at Nyrstar Hobart.

The continued success of Nyrstar relies on the ongoing development and retention of a skilled and diverse workforce.  We believe vacation students play an important role in this success, providing a potential pool of highly competent resources that are already familiar with our business.

Nominally the employment period is from November through to February each year.

Vacation students will generally be from one of the following technical disciplines:

  • Metallurgy /Chemical Engineering
  • Chemistry
  • Mechanical Engineering
  • Electrical Engineering

Students from other disciplines may also be considered.

Vacation students will be remunerated at an hourly casual rate in accordance with year of study.

Where required, one single economy airfare to and one economy single airfare from the site/office will be provided at the beginning and end of the vacation employment period respectively.   Any other costs associated with travel and housing are at the student’s own expense.
